Wheel balancers alone may not solve all tire and wheel-related vibration complaints on today's sensitive vehicles. Tires must be balanced and be "round when rolling" to ensure a smooth ride. Based on best practice OEM balancing processes, HubMatch® balancing detects not only the wheel's unbalance but also the highest point of the wheel (1st harmonics), displaying it on-screen to enable precise mounting of the wheel on the vehicle. By simply matching mechanical clearances when positioning the rim on the hub, you eliminate eccentricity and related vibration issues.
HubMatch® RFV wheel balancers are designed for today's improved quality tires and wheels, taking into account what is truly important for solving vibration on sensitive vehicles. The ER73TD uniquely combines enhanced off-car wheel balancing and eccentricity (RFV) measurement with on-the-car best practice OEM recommendations. The balancer measures both wheel balance and RFV in just 6 seconds, providing auto-prompting RFV Limit Monitor checks during every balancing cycle. If excessive RFV is detected, the technician is guided through a simple and fast repair process—streamlining diagnostics and virtually eliminating traditional tire-to-wheel RFV match mounting procedures.
Traditional wheel balancing considers a wheel balanced when residual imbalance is less than 5 grams per plane, regardless of the wheel's dimensions or weight. However, the vibration a driver perceives is influenced not only by imbalance but also by the wheel's weight and shape. A heavier wheel will make residual imbalance less perceptible, while even minimal imbalance on a lightweight wheel can cause noticeable steering wheel vibrations.
The innovative AutoAdaptive™ Mode is a tolerance calculation system based on evaluating the residual imbalance limit value that corresponds to an acceptable perceived vibration. For each wheel balanced, the AutoAdaptive™ software automatically detects the wheel's weight and dimensions and calculates the tolerance value that will cancel any vibration perceived on the steering wheel. This grants the highest comfort when driving and, together with the OPB program, saves valuable balancing time in your shop.
Static unbalance is the source of most vibrations felt by drivers. On conventional wheel balancers, even if static-only balancing is possible, it is very difficult not to increase the residual dynamic value—often exceeding tolerance limits and increasing perceived vibrations. This leads to inaccurate balancing, wasted time, and unnecessary use of counterweights.
Today, CEMB revolutionizes balancing technique with the new One Plane Balancing (OPB) software. Thanks to OPB and the latest technical innovations such as Laser Spotter and 3D Laser Scan, the ER73TD proposes a single ideal correction plane, indicating the exact position inside the rim where it is possible to balance the wheel while minimizing both static and dynamic imbalance—using only one counterweight. This enables significant savings in time and materials. The OPB program activates automatically at the end of the spin when the machine detects that correction with a single weight is possible. OPB eliminates both static and dynamic unbalance with a single counterweight, a real revolution in wheel balancing that saves you time and money while maximizing productivity.
During the correction process, the fully automatic Spotter Laser System pinpoints the exact position for stick-on weight application inside the rim. Thanks to the electromagnetic brake—which locks the wheel into the precise angular position of the unbalance—and the laser spotter, you avoid possible errors during weight application, making the balancing process faster, simpler, and more accurate. The ER73TD also features a side laser and EMS Sonar for added convenience, as well as an LED light to illuminate the work space inside the rim.
