Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 8, 2026 · Previous version: August 6, 2003

Overview

Best Buy Auto Equipment (“BBAE,” “we,” “us”) is a US distributor of automotive lifts and shop equipment operating at bestbuyautoequipment.com. This privacy policy explains what information we collect from customers and visitors, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your information under applicable US privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) and California Privacy Rights Act (“CPRA”).

This policy applies to information collected through our website, our sales and support phone lines, our email and SMS communications, and interactions at trade shows and in-person events.

Information we collect

Information you provide to us

  • Contact information — name, email address, mailing address, phone number, business name (if applicable).
  • Order and transaction information — items purchased, order history, shipping and billing addresses, payment method details (card details are processed by our payment processor and are not stored on our systems).
  • Communications — content of emails you send us, SMS messages you exchange with our customer service team, forms you submit through our website, and information you provide during phone calls.
  • Account information — username and password if you create an account, customer preferences.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and browser data — IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed on our site, timestamps of visits.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — small data files stored in your browser. See the “Cookies and tracking” section for details.
  • Analytics data — aggregated information about how visitors use our website, collected through analytics services we use.

Information collected through phone calls

  • Call recordings and transcripts — inbound and outbound calls with our sales and support teams may be recorded and transcribed for quality assurance, training, order processing, and aggregate research purposes. When you call us or we call you, an audible or verbal notice indicates the call is being recorded.
  • Call metadata — phone number you called from, call duration, time of call, and (for tracked inbound campaigns) the marketing source that referred you.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Process and fulfill your orders, arrange delivery, and handle returns.
  • Provide customer service, respond to questions, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Communicate with you about your orders, account, and, where you have opted in, promotional offers and product updates.
  • Personalize your experience on our site and recommend products based on your interests.
  • Improve our products, services, website, and customer interactions.
  • Detect and prevent fraud, protect our rights and property, and enforce our terms.
  • Comply with applicable laws, respond to legal process, and cooperate with law enforcement when required.
  • Perform aggregate research and analytics, as described below.

Aggregate research and analytics

We analyze information collected in the course of customer interactions — including call recordings and transcripts, order history, and website behavior — in aggregate form for internal research, product development, service improvement, and industry publications. When we publish findings from this research (for example, in trade publications, on our website, or in press releases), we use only aggregate statistics or composite, anonymized illustrations. We do not publish individual customer names, contact information, verbatim call content, or specific details that could identify a particular caller.

Recordings and transcripts may be processed by automated systems, including large-language-model providers such as Anthropic and OpenAI, under contractual confidentiality obligations and solely for the purposes of transcription, categorization, and aggregate analysis. These providers do not use the content of your interactions with us to train their models.

Call recording and analysis

When you call our sales or support lines, or when a member of our team returns your call, the call may be recorded for quality assurance, training, order documentation, dispute resolution, and aggregate research purposes as described above. You will hear an audible notice at the start of recorded calls.

You may request that a particular call not be recorded, or ask that a recording of your call be deleted, by contacting us using the information in the “Contact us” section. If you do not consent to recording, please let the representative know at the start of the call.

Call recordings and transcripts are retained for up to 36 months, unless a longer period is required for legal, tax, or compliance reasons.

Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We share personal information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers. We share information with vendors who help us operate our business — payment processors, shipping carriers, e-commerce platform providers, marketing and analytics services, communication providers, and AI service providers. See “Third-party processors” below. These providers are contractually obligated to use your information only to provide the specific service and to keep it confidential.
  • Legal compliance. We may disclose information when required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
  • Business transactions. If we merge, are acquired, or sell substantially all of our assets, customer information may be transferred as part of the transaction, subject to standard confidentiality obligations.
  • With your consent. We may share information for other purposes with your explicit consent.

Your rights (California residents)

Under the CCPA and CPRA, California residents have specific rights regarding their personal information:

  • Right to know. You can request confirmation of whether we process your personal information and access to the specific pieces we hold about you, the categories of sources, the purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties we share with.
  • Right to delete. You can request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions (for example, records we’re required to keep for tax or legal reasons).
  • Right to correct. You can request that we correct inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
  • Right to opt out of “sale” or “sharing”. We do not sell your personal information. If we ever engage in what CCPA/CPRA defines as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising, we will provide a clear opt-out mechanism on our website.
  • Right to limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not use sensitive categories of personal information (for example, financial account details beyond what’s needed to process a transaction) for any purpose other than providing our services.
  • Right to non-discrimination. We will not deny you service, charge you different prices, or provide a different quality of service because you exercised any of these rights.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at office@bbaeinc.com or call 1 (800) 647-7883. We will respond within 45 days as required by law. We may need to verify your identity before completing your request.

You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We will require written proof of the agent’s authorization and verification of your identity.

Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies (such as web beacons, pixel tags, and local storage) for several purposes:

  • Essential cookies that make our site work — for example, remembering items in your shopping cart or keeping you logged in.
  • Functional cookies that remember your preferences and personalize your experience.
  • Analytics cookies that help us understand how visitors use our site so we can improve it.
  • Advertising cookies that measure the performance of our advertising campaigns and, where you’ve opted in, personalize ads you see on other sites.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you refuse cookies, delete existing cookies, or notify you when a new cookie is being set. If you turn off cookies, some features of our site may not work correctly, but you can still place orders by calling us.

SMS communications

When you submit your mobile number through our shipping-quote opt-in form or another SMS opt-in on our site, you consent to receive SMS messages containing the information you requested plus any follow-up messages exchanged with our customer service team about that request. Message frequency is limited to messages directly related to your request. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for assistance.

Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing with subcontractors that support our services (for example, Twilio for SMS delivery and Resend for email) is permitted solely to deliver the service you requested. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

To request deletion of your mobile information, contact us at office@bbaeinc.com.

Security

We implement reasonable and appropriate technical, administrative, and physical safeguards designed to protect the personal information we collect. Personal information is stored on servers with restricted access, and sensitive information (such as payment card data) is transmitted using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption. Access is limited to authorized personnel who need the information to perform their job responsibilities.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If we become aware of a security breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

Children’s privacy

Our website and services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at office@bbaeinc.com and we will delete the information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will update the “Effective date” at the top and, where appropriate, notify you by email or through a notice on our website. Your continued use of our services after the effective date of a revised policy constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
