ALI Certified ALI Certified Heavy-Duty Mobile Column Lift System
The PCL-18B-6 delivers 108,000 lbs. total system capacity with six independently controlled columns, each rated at 18,000 lbs. Built for heavy-duty fleet maintenance, this system meets or exceeds ANSI/ALI ALCTV-2011 standards and is validated by the Automotive Lift Institute (ALI). PCL-18B Mobile Column Lifting Systems The BendPak PCL-18B Series sets a new benchmark in heavy-duty mobile column lift design. With evolutionary advancements in ergonomics, power, safety, durability, and performance, these portable column lifts are engineered exclusively for the most demanding fleet service applications. Whether you're working on light trucks or massive three-axle vehicles, the PCL-18B-6 provides the lifting capacity, flexibility, and reliability you need to keep your operation running at peak efficiency.

Portable and surface-mounted, the PCL-18B requires no excavation or costly site preparation. Set up is fast, relocation is simple, and the system is ready to lift a wide range of vehicles—from light-duty trucks to the heaviest two- and three-axle vehicles up to 108,000 lbs. with varied axle or wheelbase lengths. The PCL-18B Series provides limitless lift cycles, safer and easier operation, and more productivity-enhancing features than any competitive system in its class.

Designed with a super-efficient three-phase power system and a simplistic yet rugged construction, the PCL-18B minimizes scheduled service requirements and reduces long-term operating costs. Never before has a series of portable column lifts delivered so much power and versatility for both indoor and outdoor applications.*

The Perfect Fit for Your Heavy-Duty Maintenance Facility

Easy to use Mobile Column Lift Systems Built for professionals who demand the best, the PCL-18B is the ideal solution for municipal fleets, commercial truck service centers, transit agencies, and heavy equipment maintenance facilities. Its user-friendly design reduces operator fatigue and setup time, allowing your technicians to get vehicles in the air and back on the road faster than ever before.

Unlike battery-powered systems that require constant recharging, the PCL-18B uses an energy-efficient on-demand electric-hydraulic power system that's ready to work around the clock. This means measurably longer work cycles, reduced downtime, and maximum productivity—shift after shift, day after day.

BendPak Mobile Column Lift Each column features ergonomic steering control with a built-in hydraulic jack that elevates the lift assembly in seconds. A familiar 180-degree pallet-jack-style handle provides exceptional maneuverability in compact areas, and tandem 8" diameter polyurethane-covered steel wheels with sealed roller bearings easily roll over dirt, debris, and uneven surfaces. With just three strokes of the handle, the lift column is raised off the floor for instant portability. Once positioned, the spring-loaded handle returns automatically to the upright position. An overload bypass valve protects the steering control unit if the column is raised with wheels elevated. *Outdoor use only if covered and dry.

Horseshoe Wiring Design for Maximum Access

BendPak's Mobile Column Lift System For a standard four-column set, the PCL-18B uses just three 30' control cables (as opposed to four like other brands), so the front or back of the lift is always accessible and free of cable obstruction. This innovative horseshoe wiring configuration saves valuable time by allowing vehicles to be driven in and out of the work area without disconnecting and reconnecting cables. It's a simple detail that makes a huge difference in daily productivity.

Powerful and Reliable Hydraulic Design

The PCL-18B features low-pressure HVLP direct-drive cylinders that eliminate the need for lifting chains or expensive-to-maintain screw-drive systems. Inverted hydraulic cylinders protect the chrome piston rods from debris and damage at all times, extending service life and reducing maintenance costs substantially.

Independent self-contained electric-hydraulic power units (one per column) are fast, smooth, and reliable. Each unit includes a motor, gear pump, reservoir, internal valving, a load hold check valve, and a pressure relief circuit in a reliable yet easily serviceable assembly. An enclosed electric-hydraulic power system ensures quieter operation, making it better suited for sound-sensitive areas.

Manual safety override valves on each column permit the lift to be lowered in the event of a power outage—no manual hand cranks required. Inverted hydraulic cylinders feature an integrated safety valve to prevent accidental uncontrolled lowering in the event of oil pressure loss. Multiple, automatic, independent safety locks spaced every 4 inches ensure safe operation at all times.

Industry-Best Mobility

Crush Ride Front Wheels on PCL-18B Six-inch diameter Cush-Ride™ front wheels feature an adjustable active leaf spring design that provides variable up-front ground clearance for smooth traveling over uneven floors, deteriorating asphalt, expansion seams, and thresholds. You set the front wheel ride-height to whatever setting best suits your conditions.

Turn the adjusting screw to the max setting and the front legs rise nearly three inches off the ground to facilitate roll-on/roll-off loading of trailers and rollback trucks or to make easy passage of drainage gutters or floor irregularities. During operation, the front wheels automatically compress and settle down, providing firm, stable support for the lift column.

Low-mounted power units and cylinders mean a lower center of gravity, making the columns easier to move and less likely to topple compared to screw-drive systems with heavy overhead motors and drive systems. A space-saving design, reduced column weight, and a tight 40" turning radius provide improved mobility. Durable forklift pockets provide simplistic handling when moving the lift columns from one facility to another.

Intelligent Push-Button Controls

PCL-18B-control-panel.jpg Operator convenience is a key parameter in the design of the PCL-18B. The PLC-based control system is operated by means of intuitive push-button controls for continuous synchronization of all columns. All operator instructions, symbols, and warnings are printed in clear text and are easy to understand.

The PCL-18B allows you to operate, view, and change operation parameters directly from each individual full-control panel. Intuitive controls allow the lift to be fully programmed and controlled from any column. Control systems feature 24-volt safety circuitry. Each column is equipped with a warning light and audible alarm for critical warning alerts. Emergency shut-off switches on each column quickly shut off power to the lift in the event an unsafe condition is detected by the operator. Separate key lock enclosures on each column ensure secure access. Electronics are multi-fuse protected.

Smart Electronics with Self-Diagnostics

Smart electronics feature self-diagnostics and self-calibration functions. If a system error is detected or if the life of a consumable part is nearly expired, fault code indicators are instantly lighted. This allows the user and service coordinator to take appropriate action. If critical faults are detected, all operation functions will be disabled until the affected condition is corrected.

Sealed and enclosed linear potentiometers feature precision potentiometric output and high-frequency response for precise synchronization and communication of all columns throughout all operation cycles, ensuring precise, level lifting. Variable height limit settings can be programmed for shops with low ceilings or when specific vehicle service requirements necessitate specific rise heights.

Off-the-Shelf Componentry for Easy Service

A Direct Logic™ PLC (Programmable Logic Control) and other off-the-shelf components from top-tier hardware manufacturers control operation functions and column synchronization. The PLC and main system components are standard off-the-shelf brands rather than proprietary printed circuit boards or controls, which can be very expensive to service or replace.

Other lift systems may use dedicated proprietary printed circuit boards specific to that brand, which can be very expensive should replacement ever be needed—if and when available. All control system hardware conforms to CE, CSA, ANSI, ASME, OSHA, and UL regulations.

Standard Operation Functions

TEAM, PAIR, OR SINGLE COLUMN OPERATION selects which lift columns will operate as a group, tandem, or individually. Single mode results in commands from specific lift columns; team and pair modes result in commands from any column designated in their respective group.

UP CONTROL initiates the lift rise sequence. Automatic synchronization via auto-level corrections is made throughout all operations in addition to inadvertent loss of motion detection.

DOWN CONTROL initiates the lift lowering sequence. If the lift is parked on the locks, the lift will first automatically rise slightly to clear the locks before descending. If the lift is not parked on the locks, the lift will descend immediately with no initial upward movement. During the lowering sequence, the lift will initially descend at a slowed (turtle) speed, and then automatically initiate to full (rabbit) speed after a short delay. Automatic synchronization via auto-level corrections is made throughout all operations in addition to inadvertent loss of motion detection.

ULTIMATE LEVEL ERROR makes sure that if for any reason the lift operation exceeds a specified out-of-level tolerance threshold, all lift columns will stop and display an out-of-level tolerance error. To clear the error, an offending lift would be put in SINGLE mode and raised or lowered accordingly to reduce the difference in lift heights.

PARK CONTROL initiates the lift locking (parking) sequence. Each lift column will slowly settle onto the mechanical stops.

TWO-SPEED OPERATION means parking and lowering speeds are controlled by you. When trying to settle a bus on tall jack stands, go ahead and opt for the slower "turtle" speed for a safe, controlled descent; when the job's done and it's time to remove the vehicle from the work area, select the faster "rabbit" speed for a rapid controlled descent.

EMERGENCY STOP shut-off switches on each column quickly shut off power to the lift in the event an unsafe condition is detected by the operator.
