One-Spin, Minimal Weight Placement
The Ranger DST30P wheel balancer delivers exceptional precision and efficiency for professional automotive service. Built with the advanced 64-tooth magnetic transducer encoder from Ranger's flagship DST-64T model, this wheel balancer achieves minimal yet incredibly precise wheel weight placements. Capable of handling wheels up to 30" diameter and 150 lbs., the DST30P is a perfect solution for shops serving auto and light truck applications that demand the highest accuracy without the expanded footprint of larger units.
This wheel balancer shares many high-quality working components with the DST-2420 but integrates the enhanced encoder technology for twice the placement accuracy. The precision-cut square teeth of the 64-tooth encoder convert rotary position to a digital electronic signal with remarkable speed, quickly achieving maximum profile and top-dead-center positioning. As part of Ranger's commitment to serving shops and garages of all sizes, the DST30P features a narrowed chassis that reduces the unit's footprint while maintaining full functionality and performance.
If you're seeking more precise measuring without the digital add-ons and increased body size of the DST-64T, the DST30P is the perfect wheel balancer for your shop. It's a cost-effective hybrid unit that offers the most precise readings you'll ever generate from a wheel balancer, combining advanced sensor technology with streamlined operation and a space-conscious design.
Direct-Axis Drive System
The Direct-Axis drive system helps keep the DST30P running smoothly over time. A single belt-drive system connects the 1.5 HP motor and unbalance sensor, eliminating most maintenance costs during your wheel balancer's many years of service. This highly precise digital sensor technology ensures consistent, reliable performance with minimal upkeep.
The DST30P doubles the potential placement accuracy for wheel weights while maintaining a space-conscious and highly cost-effective shop solution. Dynamic, static, and performance alloy balancing modes are standard on each unit, featuring dual-plane calibration for all OEM configurations and performance wheels. Whether you're working with standard passenger vehicles or specialized performance applications, this wheel balancer adapts to your needs.
Proprietary Digital Sensor Technology
Ranger's proprietary Digital Sensor Technology offers a 16-digit digital sensor processor and single-chip technology for better speed and accuracy in your readings. OEM and performance wheels require this sort of sophisticated technology for proper balancing, so be sure any wheel balancer you choose is fully capable of servicing these specialized wheel types.
Single-chip circuit board architecture upgrades performance and reliability over multi-chip installations, delivering latency reductions and substantial boosts in device throughput. A speedy, dedicated hyper transport protocol lets data communicate with the micro-processor much faster than would otherwise be possible. Single-chip boards also use less power and better dissipate heat, contributing to the exceptional longevity and reliability of the DST30P.
Multi-Directional Quartz Piezoelectric Load Sensors
Dual-component piezoelectric quartz load sensors and digital rotation encoder measure longitudinal, transversal, and shear effects for multi-directional force unbalance detection. The piezoelectric force sensors are the most sensitive sensors Ranger has ever made, offering superior stability and fatigue resistance for unlimited service life with your wheel balancer.
High-rigidity quartz crystal sensors offer high-frequency detection in all three measured directions, ensuring +/- 1 gram (.035 oz) accuracy with 0.01 ounce, 1.4° resolution. This level of precision enables you to achieve perfect balance on even the most demanding wheel and tire configurations.
Quick & Precise Setup
A diverse arrangement of hardened-steel mounting cones lets you work with virtually all wheel types, including most light trucks and SUVs. The DST30P includes five standard cones covering a comprehensive range of hub sizes, enabling you to mount wheels quickly and securely. A rubber "quick-nut" bell adapter, with a non-marring rear cone mount pressure cup, holds mounted wheels securely in place and is sure not to damage tires or wheels during balancing procedures.
The precision-machined, hardened-steel 40mm shaft provides exceptional strength and durability, while the quick-release hub nut dramatically reduces set-up times between wheel changes. This combination of quality components and thoughtful design ensures your technicians can work efficiently and confidently.
The mounting cone package included with the DST30P wheel balancer features car and light truck cones, as well as a heavy-duty truck cone. This package includes three "smaller" cones: 1.75" - 2.75", 2.75" - 3.50", and 3.50" - 4.25", as well as one truck cone 4.50" - 5.00". Once an optional accessory, the 4.5" - 5.00" truck cone package is now standard equipment.
An even larger double-sided centering Truck Cone Kit that fits hub sizes 4.75" - 6.75" is sold separately, but also fits the DST30P. Put simply, Ranger wheel balancers easily accommodate most OEM and aftermarket wheel configurations, giving you the flexibility to serve a wide variety of vehicles.
Built-In Tape Weight Feeder
A tape weight feeder is located conveniently on a side shelf that's built into the wheel balancer. The newly designed side shelf features an open-top design that accommodates Ranger Quick-Peel™ adhesive tape weight convenient bulk rolls. You'll never have to worry about losing or misplacing your adhesive tape weights, and the high-volume top weight tray and side shelf storage give you room to inventory a wide variety of wheel weights and tools.
Side cone storage pegs keep accessories readily available, ensuring your technicians can work efficiently without interruption. This thoughtful storage integration reduces clutter and improves workflow throughout your service bay.
64-Tooth Encoder Improves Automatic Weight Optimization
The weight calculations on the DST30P wheel balancer are more accurate than the DST-2420—twice as accurate, in fact! Ranger has taken something great and made it even greater, now balancing your tire and wheel configurations with the most precise placements possible. The 64-tooth magnetic transducer encoder offers more precise placement readouts by making it easier to achieve maximum profile and top-dead-center positioning.
This means you use less weight while you save more time, increasing your bottom line. With an average cycle time of just 7 seconds and balancing increments of 0.25 oz (7 gram), the DST30P delivers rapid, accurate results that keep your service bay moving efficiently.
Full-Tilt Display Panel
Ranger has taken the touch-pad display panel on the DST-2420 wheel balancer and raised it up, tower-style, for the DST30P. This design improvement offers more flexibility in how you work. The extended, fully adjustable display avoids the problem of glare that can shroud readouts on the screen, and it ensures differently abled operators will enjoy a more ergonomic experience as they calibrate tire and wheel configurations.
The ergonomic control board and easy-to-read LED display features vibrant visual cues and keypad to improve efficiency and proper balancing techniques for faster floor-to-floor times. A multi-user save function holds presets to increase productivity, allowing multiple technicians to store their preferred settings and switch between them instantly.
LED Rolling Wheel Weight Displays
Highly visible LED displays show you exactly where to place the weights in seconds flat. These LED indicators let you see weight positions when the mounted wheel is rolled top-dead-center. As mentioned, the DST30P features an improved encoder wheel over the DST-2420, which means the LED display on the DST30P is more sensitive and more accurate than ever before.
Automatic round-off with top-dead-center weight position indicator ensures your technicians can quickly identify the correct placement location. The side-position brake holds wheels at precisely 12-o'clock for proper weight placement, eliminating guesswork and reducing the chance of errors.
Advanced Operational Features
The DST30P is loaded with time-saving features that streamline your workflow. Automatic rolling wheel parameter setting saves valuable time and minimizes errors by detecting wheel dimensions with precision. A simultaneous retrieval of static, dynamic, and ALU1/ALU2 data identifies weight placement configurations for a variety of wheel styles and designs with the simple push of a button.
The unit offers manual or automatic start when the hood is lowered, giving operators the flexibility to choose their preferred working method. Automatic electronic braking and low RPM balancing speed (260/320 RPM) ensure safe, controlled operation, while gram/ounce selection and millimeter/inch selection allow you to work in your preferred measurement system.
A self-calibration function maintains accuracy over time, and the new "open-side" hood design allows for broader coverage of tire shapes and sizes, accommodating even challenging wheel configurations with ease.
