The Coats® APX90A represents the next evolution in tire changing technology, engineered specifically for modern tire shops facing increasingly complex wheel and tire combinations. This air-driven tire changer with a powerful 1.5HP air motor delivers the capacity and versatility needed to handle everything from standard passenger car tires to extra-large custom wheels up to 30" externally, run-flat tires, and stiff sidewall applications. With four air cylinder-operated clamps, an integrated wheel lift, and four powered assist arms, the APX90A transforms challenging tire service jobs into efficient, damage-free operations while protecting your customers' valuable wheels.
The Tire Changer Platform Built for the Future
Wheels are getting larger, heavier, and more expensive. New tire systems are becoming tougher to change. Today, tire service is more challenging than it's ever been—and choosing the right equipment to serve your customers is even more critical.
The APX90A was designed to change the toughest run-flat tires and extra-large custom wheels with ease—including Michelin run-flats (with optional accessory kit). Without strenuous effort and without damage to expensive custom wheels. Not only are these tough jobs made easy, but the APX90A makes quick and efficient work of conventional tires and wheels. The Coats® APX90A provides a path to increased shop efficiency and profitability, enabling you to service virtually any job that comes in your shop.
The APX90A can handle nearly any application, with the ability to service wheels from 9" to 30" externally and 11" to 32" internally without the need for additional adapters. At the same time, it provides an ergonomic user experience with intuitive and easy-to-operate features, so that you can focus on changing tires without complicated training issues. Capacity, productivity, and protection—the Coats® APX90A delivers on all counts.
Protecting Expensive Wheels
When your customers entrust you with their expensive wheels, you need a tire changer that you can count on to do the job safely and without worry. With features such as the Coats® exclusive three-position hand-operated bead loosening system with power in, out, and freeze controls, the APX90A was designed from the ground up to give peace of mind for even the most challenging jobs.
The machine features Grip-Max® clamps with air cylinder operation for secure, damage-free wheel clamping. Standard protectors include nylon head covers, steel head inserts, bead loosener covers, and protective tool covers to ensure maximum wheel safety. The X-shaped table design with an automatic tool head offset and tilt-back mount/demount operation further reduces the risk of wheel damage during service.
Increasing Shop Productivity
As tires and wheels get larger and heavier, they also get harder to change. With features such as a built-in wheel lift that raises heavy wheels to the 27" tabletop height, and more power helpers than any other tire changer in its class, the Coats® APX90A helps your staff work faster and more efficiently. The integrated wheel lift reduces operator effort and the risk of wheel damage while improving control throughout the service process.
The Robo-Arm® helper device comes standard and applies pressure to create bead lock while holding the top bead in the drop center during mounting operations. The pre-installed Robo-Roller® assists with the toughest of tires, helping keep the following bead in the drop center. Horizontal power rollers allow easy bead and rim lubrication, loosen top beads, and assist in mounting run-flat and low-profile tires with minimal operator effort.
The Duckhead® roller prevents the top bead from flipping over the Duckhead® mount head on large, stiff sidewall tires, eliminating a common frustration during difficult tire changes. Because the Coats® APX90A has evolved from the most popular family of tire changers in the United States, it is intuitive and easy to operate. Ergonomically positioned foot pedals and helper controls located at point of use minimize training time and reduce opportunities for operator error. Technicians can focus on the customer rather than complex machine operation.
Maximizing Your Investment
We know tires and wheels will continue to change. Coats® engineered the APX90A so that it can adapt and be enhanced for the future. That means your equipment investment lasts. The modular design accommodates optional accessory kits for specialized applications, ensuring your shop stays ahead of evolving tire technology.
Air Drive Power and Control
The APX90A is powered by a robust 1.5HP air motor operating at 110-175 PSI and requiring 15 SCFM for optimal performance. The air drive system provides variable rotation speed for precise control during mount and demount operations. The machine includes a comprehensive filter/lube system to protect internal components and ensure long-term reliability.
A 5.7-gallon bead seating reservoir with inflation pressure limiter ensures safe and effective tire inflation. The unit features a 60 PSI inflation gauge and 0-300 PSI air supply gauge for complete monitoring and control of all pneumatic functions.
