The Atlas® TC229 wheel clamp swing arm tire changer is engineered for small to mid-size automotive garages, ATV dealers, and motorcycle shops. This versatile machine handles steel, aluminum, and alloy rims with confidence, accommodating wheels up to 39" in diameter. The TC229 shares the same robust clamping and tire changing capabilities as the popular Atlas® TC 221 tire changer, but adds a powerful integrated bead blaster system — essential for inflating stiff sidewall tires, low-profile performance tires, and other "hard to inflate" applications that commonly frustrate technicians.
With three adjustable positions for the clamping jaws, the TC229 offers remarkable flexibility. The outside locking rim clamp ranges from 9¾" to 23¼", while the inside locking rim clamp spans 11⅝" to 25¼". Flip adapters extend the range even further — ATV configuration handles rims as narrow as 2⅞", and motorcycle configuration reaches up to 26⅜". This makes the TC229 an ideal choice for shops servicing diverse vehicle types.
The machine's 4-jaw internal/external wheel clamping system securely grips wheels without damage, aided by four included black plastic rim protectors. The pneumatic bead breaker delivers an impressive 5,500 lbs of force, easily breaking even stubborn beads on larger tires. A powerful turntable rotating torque of 885 ft/lbs ensures smooth, consistent operation throughout the tire changing process.
The TC229 comes equipped with professional conveniences including an oiler, filter, and regulator, plus a built-in soap reservoir and tire inflator. Operating air pressure is 90-110 PSI (maximum inlet pressure not to exceed 140 PSI). Standard 110V 1-phase electrical means no special wiring required. At 500 lbs shipping weight, this is a substantial, stable machine built for years of reliable service.
Planning for Growth?
If you plan to service larger pickup trucks (1-ton), large SUVs, or agricultural tires now or in the future, consider the Atlas® TC 289 wheel clamp tire changer for expanded capacity.
The Atlas® WB49-2 PRO represents the pinnacle of precision wheel balancing technology at an accessible price point. Building on the proven performance of the WB41 and WB49-2 models, the PRO version adds fully automatic 3D data entry — an outer measuring arm automatically captures rim width while the inner arm records offset and diameter. This eliminates manual data entry errors and dramatically speeds up the balancing process.
This premium balancer handles wheels from 10" to 32" in diameter (with manual data input required for 23"-32" range), accommodates rim widths from 1½" to 20", and supports wheels up to 39" in diameter and 150 lbs in weight. The robust 40mm shaft and ¼ HP motor deliver smooth, reliable operation at 150 RPM balancing speed.
Accuracy is outstanding at 1 gram with 1.4° weight position resolution, ensuring perfectly balanced wheels for smooth, vibration-free driving. The self-calibration and self-diagnosis features maintain peak performance with minimal operator intervention. The machine offers both static and dynamic balancing modes, plus rapid optimization (OPT) for the fastest possible results.
Operator convenience is a top priority. The higher, easy-to-read display shows measurements in grams or ounces, millimeters or inches. A large weight tray keeps supplies organized and within reach. Automatic positioning tells you exactly where to apply weights — reinforced by an automatic LED light that illuminates the inside of the rim at the correct weight placement location.
The split-weight function allows discreet weight placement behind spokes for a cleaner appearance on custom wheels. The balancer features automatic and pedal-operated brake systems, and automatic start/stop when the hood is lowered or raised for seamless workflow. Exceptional stability ensures consistent, repeatable readings between planes.
Installation is simple — no anchor-down installation required, and the machine runs on standard 110V single-phase power. At 380 lbs shipping weight, the WB49-2 PRO is solid and stable. An optional truck adapter set is available for shops servicing heavy-duty vehicles.
