When properly installed, the Atlas® LMA transforms most two-post above-ground lifts into an economical four-wheel support lift platform. The LMA consists of two wheel platforms featuring 12" wide wheel wells that securely cradle wheels during lifting and service operations. Each platform is engineered to provide stable, level support when correctly positioned on your lift arms.
IMPORTANT COMPATIBILITY NOTE:
The ATLMA is designed for use ONLY on two-post lifts with symmetric or super symmetric arms. This adapter does NOT fit lifts with asymmetric arms. Please verify your lift's arm configuration before ordering. The LMA plates can be positioned only on symmetric arm configurations.

However, there are many factors that determine the SAFE weight capacity of the ATLMA on your specific lift. Best Buy Auto Equipment and Atlas® Automotive Equipment recommend following these important LMA guidelines for the safe lifting of all specialty vehicles and lawn service equipment.
Understanding Your Lift's True Capacity: Many above-ground two-post lifts have been over-rated by certain lift distributors. Your 9,000 lb. or 10,000 lb. two-post lift may, in reality, only be an 8,000 lb. two-post lift. Always verify the actual tested capacity of your lift before adding accessories.
For the purpose of illustration, let us assume that you have a REAL 8,000 lb. two-post lift.
This 8,000 lb. capacity translates into an important fact about above-ground two-post lifts: An 8,000 lb. two-post lift has four lift arms that are each capable of lifting and safely supporting 2,000 lbs. If you are lifting an 8,000 lb. vehicle on an 8,000 lb. lift, the weight of the vehicle needs to be evenly distributed across each of the four lifting points.
This same principle is applied when using the Atlas® LMA as an accessory on your lift. You must distribute the weight as evenly as possible across both adapter platforms.
Calculating Adjusted Capacity with the LMA Installed
Step 1: Account for the LMA Weight
First, you must consider the weight of the LMA (600 lbs.) and deduct the 600 lbs. from the lifting capacity of your lift. Your 8,000 lb. lift with a properly positioned LMA now has a new effective lifting capacity of 7,400 lbs.
Step 2: Consider Wheelbase Position
The closer the LMA plates are positioned to the vertical columns, the greater the lifting capacity of the adapter. As the LMA adapter plates are moved farther apart toward the lift pads (increasing the wheelbase), the lifting capacity of the LMA is reduced due to leverage and arm extension.
Atlas® Automotive Equipment recommends the following capacity adjustments based on wheelbase positioning:
At closest wheelbase position (32"): DEDUCT 2,000 lbs. from your lift's rated capacity
At furthest wheelbase position (90"): DEDUCT 3,000 lbs. from your lift's rated capacity
Example Calculations:
If you are using an 8,000 lb. two-post lift and you have the wheelbase dimensions set at 32", then the NEW safe lifting capacity of the lift with the ATLMA installed would be 6,000 lbs. (8,000 - 2,000 = 6,000).
If you position the LMA plates so that the wheelbase is at the maximum 90", then the NEW safe lifting capacity would be 5,000 lbs. (8,000 - 3,000 = 5,000).
Handling Uneven Weight Distribution
If you are lifting a mower, golf cart, or other vehicle that is extremely heavy on one end (front-heavy or rear-heavy equipment), the operator should position the LMA plate supporting the "heavy" end closer to the vertical column and extend the opposite LMA plate (supporting the "lighter" end) further out on the lift arm to accommodate the necessary wheelbase. This positioning maximizes the load-bearing capacity where it's needed most and helps maintain balanced, stable lifting.
