The Challenger 44040 is engineered for the most demanding heavy-duty lifting applications in commercial truck and fleet service environments. With a 40,000 lb lifting capacity, this industrial-grade four-post lift is built to handle large axle vehicles including waste trucks, commercial delivery vehicles, transit buses, and heavy construction equipment. Featuring Challenger's exclusive variable-synchro power system with dual hydraulic cylinders, this lift provides the unique ability to raise and lower the front or rear suspension independently or simultaneously—a critical advantage when working with vehicles that have significantly heavier front or rear axles.
Built with heavy-duty high tensile strength leaf chain and sealed roller bearings, the 44040 delivers maximum reliability shift after shift. The velocity fused redundant hydraulic safety system and single point air actuated lock release ensure technician safety and operational efficiency. Now available in a sleek new black finish, this lift combines professional aesthetics with industrial-strength performance. Available in three length configurations—standard (44040), extended (44040E), and extra long (44040X)—to accommodate wheelbases from 310 inches to 430 inches.
The Challenger 44040 represents the pinnacle of four-post lift engineering for heavy commercial applications. Unlike standard lifts, this system features a variable-synchro power system with dual heavy duty lift cylinders and lever controls that provide variable or synchronous power to the front and/or rear suspension. This advanced design is perfect for lifting vehicles with uneven weight distribution—waste trucks with heavy compaction equipment in the rear, dump trucks with loaded beds, or delivery trucks with concentrated cargo weight.
The lift's 10HP motor drives the system through heavy-duty high tensile strength leaf chain, delivering smooth, reliable operation with a rise time of just 70 seconds to the full 73-inch rise height. The sealed roller bearings ensure maximum reliability with minimal maintenance, while the velocity fused redundant hydraulic safety system provides multiple layers of protection for both the vehicle and technician.
Safety and convenience meet in the independent control console, mounted away from the hydraulic lift for optimal technician positioning. This comprehensive control center features the variable-synchro power system controls that allow you to raise and lower the front or rear suspension either simultaneously or independently—critical when working with vehicles that have unbalanced weight distribution.
Dual pressure gauges provide real-time monitoring of hydraulic pressure at both the front and rear cylinders, ensuring balanced lifting and alerting operators to any system irregularities. The single point air lock release button allows the technician to disengage all column locks simultaneously with compressed air, eliminating the need to manually release each lock position individually—a significant time-saver that also keeps technicians safely away from the lifting mechanism during lock release.
Vehicle traction and operator confidence start at the approach. The 44040 features heavy-duty fixed approach ramps with diamond plate anti-skid surfaces that are securely bolted down for safe and easy drive-on access. The diamond plate texture provides positive traction even with wet tires or in humid shop conditions, while the fixed bolt-down design eliminates any shift or movement during vehicle loading.
The runways are fully adjustable to accommodate a variety of tread widths and axle configurations, with a width between runways ranging from 36 inches to 58 inches. Each runway measures 32 inches wide and sits at a 14-inch height, providing a stable, low-profile platform. The 17-foot 1-1/4-inch overall width and 144-inch inside column spacing ensure compatibility with everything from standard commercial trucks to wide-body transit vehicles.
Versatility is built into every inch of the 44040's 73-inch rise height. The 10-level twin ladder lock positions provide precise height adjustment to create the ideal working height for any service task—from underneath brake and suspension work at lower heights to transmission service and exhaust system repairs at mid-height positions, all the way to full-rise cab and body work.
Each lock position is engaged automatically as the lift rises, and the single point air actuated release system allows for simultaneous disengagement of all locks with the push of a button. This dual-column lock design provides redundant safety and rock-solid stability at every height, even when working with the maximum 40,000 lb capacity.
The 44040 includes a built-in runway rail system designed to accept optional convenience accessories such as rolling jacks and sliding oil drain pans. This integrated rail system keeps essential tools within easy reach and allows technicians to position jacks and service equipment exactly where needed along the full length of the vehicle—no more dragging heavy equipment across the shop floor or struggling with positioning.
Combined with the lift's adjustable runway width, this feature transforms the 44040 into a complete service platform that streamlines workflow and reduces technician fatigue. The long-lasting durability of the diamond plate runways ensures this rail system will continue to function smoothly for decades of heavy use.
Whether you're servicing standard commercial trucks or extended-wheelbase specialty vehicles, the Challenger 44040 series offers the perfect fit:
All three models share the same 40,000 lb capacity, 17-foot 1-1/4-inch overall width, and 73-inch rise height, ensuring consistent performance regardless of length. The 92-inch overall height fits comfortably in most commercial service facilities with standard ceiling clearance.
