Power Assist Perfection + Tire Changer Protection
When you need a tire changer that will get the job done on virtually all commuter and passenger vehicles, including pick-up trucks and race cars, the space-saving R980AT might be exactly what you need. It features an assist tower to help unseat stiff, low-profile tire beads and run-flats. A centering cone it holds the bead in the drop-center, further helping protect the tire during external clamping procedures. This model is a perfect addition to full-service repair bays and general tire shops because it accommodates a wide range of tire-and-wheel combinations.
Power Assist Tower
The swing-arm on the R980AT is one of this tire changer’s most useful features. When dealing with run-flats and stubborn beads, the power assist tower will safely secure the edge of the tire, moving along with the activated turntable. The bead will almost always seat without a struggle. Try this on a stubborn bead without the swing-arm, and you’ll be at it for a while, wasting your precious time.
A high-torque electric turntable efficiently spins tires to seat or remove beads. With reverse-direction foot pedal controls, you’re in total charge of your tire changing operation. The turntable is the only electrical component in the tire changer (everything else is air-powered), and it requires very little support or maintenance over time.
Traveling Drop-center Top-mount Helper / Swing-in Bottom Helper Disc
Tough sidewalls? No problem. A traveling drop-center tool makes changing tires easy. Ranger tire changers offer increased safety and efficiency, and the drop-center tool is essential to the entire operation. A swing-in disc can also help loosen beads by using safe pneumatic power that won’t damage your tires.

Stainless Steel & Aluminum Pneumatic Cylinders
To ensure a low-friction environment, steel and aluminum cylinders work together to reduce machine vibrations. End-of-stroke cushioning protects seals, wear bands and pistons bands from excessive forces, prolonging the life of the tire changer.
Balanced flywheels also help reduce vibrations in your equipment. The less stress on your machine, the longer it lasts.
The bead-breaker’s speed is significantly increased due to our included bilateral pneumatic accelerators. They’re just as effective in reverse too! The cylinder won’t react if moisture is detected in the air. This eliminates any chance of rust or corrosion due to condensation or extreme humidity. A multi-axis, adjustable blade permits multi-angle tire capacity, while the large, dual-flange axle prevents the blade from flexing or failing.
Enhanced Bead-breaker Blade
Your Ranger tire changer features a powerful bead breaker blade that won’t stress the rest of the machine as it breaks beads, and it returns smoothly when it detaches from the tire. This smooth return reduces shock loading and wear on the cylinders.
Multi-function Mount & Demount Head
An equi-dimensional, hardened alloy steel mount and demount head assists tire beads during all tire changer operations. Protective plastic covers ensure steel never contacts the wheel, protecting custom and high-performance wheel types at all times. A 100% polymer head is also interchangeable with the steel head.
Pneumatic Control Valves
Industrial-grade, 45-micron, pneumatic control valves feature die cast and machined bodies constructed from zinc and aluminum. High-performance polyurethane seals and self-lubricating Teflon® piston guides help make your tire changer stronger and longer-lasting. Valve plungers feature muffled extrication ports that blow away dirt and other contaminants each time the valve goes into the release position.
Adjustable RimGuard™ Wheel Clamps
Ranger’s exclusive RimGuard™ wheel clamps come standard on the R980AT tire changer, and this massive turntable allows them to expand 30”. Dual multi-tooth jaw sets permit internal and external clamping, and the vertical-mount design reduces the time you spend on each tire.

Simple Foot-pedal Control
No heavy, rusted-out cast-iron foot pedals here! Forged steel is long-lasting, lightweight, durable and won’t corrode over time. The snap-action pedals immediately return to starting positions when released. The pedals’ high responsiveness prevents tire tears and considerably speeds up operations. Multi-link rod connections support non-binding plunger movement and better bilateral control.
High-pressure polyurethane pneumatic tubing is outfitted with a seamless bore for better flow rates. The tire changer also benefits from high abrasion resistance, high burst tolerance and maximum kink resistance..
TurboBlast™ Bead Seating
Ranger’s TurboBlast™ bead seater is a Ranger tire changer exclusive. It simply forces air into tires with stubborn beads, seating them quickly when simple inflation won’t do the trick. A nylon discharge barrel has a locking tab that sits right on the edge of the rim. This design makes it easy to aim and control the intense air burst.
You’ll enjoy your tire changer’s hands-off gearbox. It never needs maintenance and has a massive oil and grease reservoir for improved heat dissipation and component lubrication. Internal baffles and a constant seating stress flange gasket assure positive, leak-free venting. Also to your benefit, Ranger prefers precision helical gears in our tire changers instead of loud, clunky spur gear transmissions.

Sealed Electrical Components

Advanced Drive Belt System
The R980AT has a drive belt that evenly disperses wear and improves belt support. Flex-bonded cords and flex-weave covers keep away oil, heat and other contaminants that threaten the efficiency of the machine.
Spring-assisted Tool Shaft
A 45 mm spring-assisted hexagonal vertical tool shaft and hardened-steel horizontal outrigger support arm ensure the mount-demount tool head remains stable and precisely aimed.
Foot-controlled Tire Inflator
Inflate tires without lifting a finger. The tire changer features a sure-grip clip-on valve chuck on the inflation hose (for hands-free operation), and an air pressure dump valve lets you release air from the tire.

Ranger DST30P Wheel Balancer—One-Spin
One-Spin, Minimal Weight Placement
The DST30P accurately and efficiently calibrates wheel and tire configurations. Like the DST-2420 wheel balancer, the DST30P handles wheels up to a 30” diameter. It also contains many of the same working components as the DST-2420 but with one exception: we took the 64-tooth magnetic transducer encoder from the DST-64T and built it into this smaller unit for minimal yet incredibly precise wheel weight placements.
The larger encoder features precision-cut square teeth to convert rotary position to a digital electronic signal, quickly achieving maximum profile and top-dead-center positioning. As part of our ongoing mission to supply shops and garages of all sizes, we reduced the unit’s footprint by narrowing the chassis.
If you’re looking for more precise measuring without the digital frills, add-ons and increased body size of the DST-64T, the DST30P is the perfect wheel balancer for your shop. It’s a cost-effective hybrid unit that offers the most precise readings you’ll ever generate from a wheel balancer.
The Direct-Axis drive system helps keep the DST30P running smoothly over time. A single belt connects the motor and unbalance sensor, eliminating most maintenance costs during your wheel balancer’s many years of service.

The DST30P doubles the potential placement for wheel weights while maintaining a space-conscious and highly cost-effective shop solution. Dynamic, static and ALU balancing modes are standard on each unit, featuring dual plane calibration for all OEM configurations and performance wheels.
Ranger’s proprietary Digital Sensor Technology offers a 16-digit digital sensor processor and single-chip technology for better speed and accuracy in your readings. OEM and performance wheels require this sort of sophisticated technology for proper balancing, so be sure any wheel balancer you choose is fully capable of servicing these specialized wheel types.
Single-chip circuit board architecture upgrades performance and reliability over multi-chip installations, (e.g., latency reductions, substantial boost in device throughput). A speedy, dedicated hyper transport protocol lets data communicate with the micro-processor much faster than would otherwise be possible. Single-chip boards also use less power and better dissipate heat.
Multi-directional Quartz Ppiezoelectric Load Sensors
Dual-component piezoelectric quartz load sensors and digital rotation encoder measure longitudinal, transversal and shear effects for multi-directional force unbalance detection. The piezoelectric force sensors are the most sensitive sensors we have ever made, offering superior stability and fatigue resistance for unlimited service life with your wheel balancer. High-rigidity quartz crystal sensors offer high frequency detection in all three measured directions.
Quick & Precise Setup
A diverse arrangement of hardened-steel mounting cones lets you work with virtually all wheel types, including most light trucks and SUVs. A rubber “quick-nut” bell adapter, with a non-marring rear cone mount pressure cup, holds mounted wheels securely in place and is sure not to damage tires or wheels during balancing procedures.
Mounting Cone Package
The DST30P wheel balancer tooling package includes car and light truck cones, as well as a heavy-duty truck cone. This package includes three “smaller” cones: 1.75” - 2.75”, 2.75” - 3.50” and 3.50” - 4.25”, as well as one truck cone 4.50” - 5.00”. Once an optional accessory, the 4.5" - 5.00" truck cone package is now standard.
An even larger double-sided centering Truck Cone Kit that fits hub sizes 4.75" - 6.75" is sold separately, but also fits the DST30P.

64-tooth encoder improves automatic weight optimization
The weight calculations on the DST30P wheel balancer are more accurate than the DST-2420—twice as accurate, in fact! We’ve taken something great and made it even greater, now balancing your tire and wheel configurations with the most precise placements possible. The 64-tooth magnetic transducer encoder offers more precise placement readouts by making it easier to achieve maximum profile and top-dead-center positioning. This means you use less weight while you save more time, increasing your bottom line.
Full-tilt Display Panel
We’ve taken the touch-pad display panel on the DST-2420 wheel balancer and raised it up, tower-style, for the DST30P. This design improvement offers more flexibility in how you work. The extended, fully adjustable display avoids the problem of glare that can shroud readouts on the screen, and it ensures differently abled operators will enjoy a more ergonomic experience as they calibrate tire and wheel configurations.
LED Rolling Wheel Weight Displays
Highly visible LED displays show you exactly where to place the weights in seconds flat. These LED indicators let you see weight positions when the mounted wheel is rolled top-dead-center. As mentioned, the DST30P features an improved encoder wheel over the DST-2420, which means the LED display on the DST30P is more sensitive and more accurate than ever before.

The ruggedly built RL-8500 brake lathe is capable of faster, more accurate and easier rotor and flywheel and drum and flywheel resurfacing than any other brake lathe in its class. Infinitely adjustable feed rates allow you to easily modify cut speeds with the simple turn of a dial. Now you can reduce or increase the cut-time for best finish results, whether you're speeding through an initial rough cut or a single-pass micro-finish. This complete lathe package includes lathe, a sturdy bench and large tool storage backboards so you can hang all your adapters within close reach.
One of the common problems that plague other brake lathes is the vibration and chatter transfer that directly affects the tool-tip and leaves an imperfect cut on the machined surface. The RL-8500XLT Brake Lathe by Ranger is specifically designed to address this issue by eliminating the need for gear-driven mechanical drives and variable-speed transmission devices.
Ranger brake lathes replaced antiquated transmission / gears found on other brands. You would be surprised if you stood back and watched a brake lathe machine a finish cut on a rotor or drum or flywheel. Brake rotors are very smooth or should be. If you were to turn a rotor on any lathe then drop a hammer on the floor next to the lathe, you would see a noticeable degradation of the cut at the moment of impact. Vibration causes frequencies which get transferred to the finish cut. Because the Ranger RL-8500 brake lathe does not use gears and transmissions, we completely eliminate multiple frequencies that could degrade the machining finish. The formation of surface roughness is usually the result of the tool feed rate, spindle rotational speed, tool geometry, the material properties and relative tool-work vibration. Vibrations and chatter from gears, bearings and mechanical drive parts are eliminated--the same kind of vibration that is often transferred to the tool-tip leaving irregular cuts on the machined finish.
